K-pop has gone mainstream, but is the genre here to stay? One thing’s for sure: the massive legions of fans are not going anywhere.

From the smash boy band BTS being named onto Time 100 and becoming the first-ever K-pop act to be a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” to Blackpink performing to rave reviews at Coachella, audiences are taking notice stateside. In fact, BTS broke YouTube’s record for most-viewed video in 24 hours with nearly 80 million views overnight.
