Clacton: Three Men Jailed Over Stabbing
Three men have been jailed for a total of eight years after a man was stabbed outside a curry house in Clacton.
The 24-year-old man from the town was assaulted outside an Indian restaurant at the junction of St John's Road, Valley Road and Old Road at 11:45pm on Saturday January 21.
He was taken by paramedics to Colchester General Hospital and subsequently transferred to Basildon University Hospital.
He is now recovering at home.
Three people were arrested and subsequently charged with assault offences.
At Chelmsford Crown Court in April, 28-year-old gardener Bryan Argent from Vista Road in Clacton pleaded guilty to one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
His father, 47-year-old builder Brian Argent from Furze Lane in Great Bromley pleaded guilty to one count of causing actual bodily harm, as did 27-year-old plumber Richard East from Coach Road in Great Horkesley.
At Chelmsford Crown Court Bryan Argent was jailed for five years while Brian Argent and Richard East were each imprisoned for 18 months.
Senior Investigating Officer, DI Terry Balding, said: "This case starkly illustrates the dangers of knife crime. The Argents and Richard East played their parts in this crime, with their responses to what amounted to a trivial disagreement, totally disproportionate. They can reflect on their actions behind bars."
