Touchstone deal to kick in next summer

King of Queens” co-creator and exec producer David Litt is setting up a comedy fiefdom at Touchstone Television, inking a lucrative three-year overall deal with the Mouse division.

Litt will create, develop and produce comedy series for Touchstone under the terms of the pact, which is valued at high seven figures and is set to kick in next summer. Scribe will remain as exec producer of “King” (with co-creator Michael J. Weithorn) through this season, and is expected to remain involved with the laffer next season. Litt most recently had been based at “King” studio Columbia TriStar Television.

“I’m really excited about working with (ABC toppers) Lloyd Braun and Stu Bloomberg and (Touchstone execs) Steve McPherson and Julia Franz,” Litt told Daily Variety. “But more than that, I’m really excited about the ridiculous amount of money they’re paying me.”

“We think he’s an immensely talented voice. We’re excited to have him at Touchstone,” McPherson said.

Litt said he hasn’t started seriously working on any possible pilot ideas yet, though after working on a domestic laffer for three seasons, “I’m excited about maybe working on an ensemble comedy.”

Before co-creating “King,” Litt teamed with Weithorn to create and exec produced the critically well-received Fox laffer “Ned and Stacey,” which ran from 1995-97. He also served as a writer and co-producer of ABC’s Tim Curry-Annie Potts laffer “Over the Top.”

Litt’s other writing credits include stints on the syndie comedy strip “The Newz” and the sudser “Sweet Valley High.”

Deal was brokered by Endeavor and attorney Jared Levine.
