Team Heart for Race for Life

Publish date: 2024-05-25

These are Mic's words... When my mum died on the 14th October 2008 I felt like my whole world had collapsed. I’ll never, ever forget that awful day. I had just finished reading the 9am news and when I walked back into the newsroom there was a missed call from my parents house. "I thought it was odd that they were calling me so early in the morning as I would normally only speak to my mum in the evening as mornings were not the best time for her. "As I rang back I had the neighbours voice answer the phone, she put my dad on who just said in a broken voice “Mic I’ve lost her…” All I remember is screaming, the rest of the day is just a blur to me. "Cancer took away my darling mum and I want to do everything in my power to stop other people losing their own mum’s so early. Race for Life is such a great event to be involved with and although I’m always sad that mum is gone, doing something like race helps me do something positive for other people in her memory.”
